LMZ is derived from natural extracts of the marigold flower (Tagetes erecta).
LMZ in Macushield is made up of three ocher carotenoids: Lutein, Mesoexaxanthin and Zeaxanthin. Scientific research shows that these three carotenoids are located in the fundus of the eye, in the macula and compose the yellow pigment of the macula and in the center of this pigment is mesoexanthin.
The formula combines powerful antioxidants that protect the eye from the harmful effects of free radicals and is specifically designed to support macular degeneration. The macular degeneration comes from the carotenoids we get from our diet (fish carrots) such as lutein zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin. It is yellow in color and absorbs harmful blue radiation. The ingredients lutein and zeaxanthin are believed to filter and block blue radiation by up to 90%. They are also powerful antioxidants and protect the eye by neutralizing free radicals. Meso-zeaxanthin is the third component of the macula and is located in the center and is formed in the macula by the transformation of lutein. It is not part of a regular diet but is found in shrimp and various fish such as salmon. Recommended dosage: 1 capsule daily during meals.
