Folate 400µg provides folic acid in a patented, biologically active form, bioequivalent to the naturally occurring form. It is the most effective form of folate for people who are unable to metabolize folic acid endogenously due to polymorphism in the MTFR gene.
In addition, 400µg folate (as Metafolin) is essential for women of childbearing potential as it helps prevent birth defects of the central nervous system or the fetus.
